Mary, the artist and owner of Patton Glass, has been immersed in creativity since childhood. Encouraged by her artistic family, she discovered a passion for ceramics while working with her grandmother. Mary pursued her love for art throughout her education, earning a B.S. in Studio Art from Western Oregon University with a focus on ceramics, sculpture, and a minor in art history.

After college, Mary followed her dream of becoming a glass artist. She honed her craft through courses at Pratt Fine Art Center, assisting in the hot shop, and renting studio time. By 2015, life took a turn, and a traditional job and parenting left little time for glassblowing.

In 2020, a pivotal moment allowed Mary to pivot. She built a flameworking studio in her garage, reigniting her passion for glass art. Since then, Mary has been growing her business, showcasing her work at markets across Western Washington, online at pattonglass.com, and on social media.

Mary is also an art educator at the Tacoma Museum of Glass and an instructor for the Hot Shop Heroes program. She offers flameworking lessons from her home studio—details coming soon on her website’s “Learn with Me” tab.

A proud Spaceworks Tacoma alumna, Mary continues to create and inspire.
